We build homes ranging from 1,000 sq. ft. and upwards. Typically, our custom homes fall within the 2,200 to 3,200 sq. ft. range. The size and scope of a project is determined by the customer’s needs, so don’t hesitate to reach out about projects exceeding that range. 

  • What factors affect the cost of building a custom home?

The cost of building a custom home can vary significantly based on finishes, site constraints, and other factors. Each project is unique, and part of our design process involves aligning your budget with your desires.

  • Does Kaizen Custom Homes collaborate with external architects?

While we have a vibrant design-build team in-house, we do collaborate with external architects when the project demands it.

  • Which areas do you serve?

We primarily serve the South Puget Sound and Mason County regions, but we’re open to projects beyond these areas.

  • How soon can you start on a new custom home?

The design process can range from 3-12 months. It’s always a good idea to initiate discussions early to align timelines.

  • What in-house services and trades does Kaizen Custom Homes offer?

From the ground up, we handle everything related to home construction — from groundwork and water management to laying foundations. Additionally, we self-perform many trades to ensure the highest quality. On occasions where we collaborate with subcontractors, you can be assured they are highly trusted and thoroughly vetted.

    Absolutely! We pride ourselves on tailoring designs to your unique vision, rather than offering pre-selected plans.

    • Who handles the permit process?

    We manage and obtain the necessary permits for your project.

    • Can construction begin any time of the year?

    Yes, we’re equipped to start homes in any month. Many of the building materials we source for rough construction are designed for sustained exposure to weather conditions, within reasonable limits.

    • How do you manage costs in a custom build?

    We ensure transparency and alignment with your financial expectations through constant communication and budget engineering.

    • Can you work with pre-existing plans?

    Yes, we can work with plans that have already been drawn up, though modifications might be necessary to align with our standards.

    • Is there a need to hire an interior designer?

    While it’s not always necessary to hire an interior designer, having one can add a unique touch to your project. We have several talented designers with whom we collaborate successfully. If you’re considering this route, we can make recommendations and introduce you. However, if you decide to proceed without one, our experienced team is more than capable of guiding you through the design aspects of your project.

    • What architectural styles do you specialize in?

    We’re well-versed in Pacific Northwest, craftsman, and modern styles, with a strong influence from Japanese philosophy. Ultimately, we aim to design anything that aligns with good aesthetics and meets our clients’ desires and needs.
